The earliest agriculture settlement was discovered in Mehrgarh, dating back to 7000 B.C a 1000 years before Mesopotamia. The Indus Valley Civilization with the cities of Harappa and Mohnjo-daro at its center lasted from 2600 to 1900 BC. Gandhara civilization became the spiritual center of Buddhism from 200 BC to 800 AD; followed by the Mughals, a brief Sikh Empire and the British.
