Home of worlds ancient civilizations. The history of the region within Pakistan goes back to 50,000 BC. The earliest agriculture settlement was discovered in Mehrgarh, dating back to 7000 B.C a 1000 years before Mesopotamia. The Indus Valley Civilization with the cities of Harappa and Mohnjo-daro at its center lasted from 2600 to 1900 BC. Gandhara civilization became the spiritual center of Buddhism from 200 BC to 800 AD; followed by the Mughals, a brief Sikh Empire and the British.
The Highest Mountains
Pakistan is home to the three highest mountain ranges of the world, Himalayas, Karakoram and the Hindukush. This includes 4,500 peaks above 6,000 meters (19,685ft).
Deosai National Park
Deosai National Park is a high-altitude alpine plateau, the average elevation is 4114m(13497ft) making it the second highest plateau in the world.
UNESCO World Heritage Sites

The Magnificent Forts of Pakistan
Known for its spectacular nature, Pakistan is also home to a large number of fortresses. Scattered throughout the country, sometimes along the plains of the Indus river at others perched up on a mountain top. Highest Polo Festival
The annual Shandur Polo Festival, held during the first week of July is an internationally famed event. The Shandur polo ground is said to be the highest polo ground in the world, at approximately 3,734 meters (12250 ft).

This recognition comes with good reason. There has been a 92% decrease in terrorism related incidents in Pakistan since 2013, according to accurate and updated global data. Pakistan is now ranked 153 in the Global Peace Index (sandwiched between Turkey and Russia).
